Mission Statement

The mission of the Cheshire County Conservation District is to promote the sustainability of our natural resources for the people and environment of Cheshire County by bringing individuals and groups with common environmental interests together to share ideas, resources and information.

Description

The Cheshire County Conservation District assists towns, landowners, farmers, developers and others to properly plan the wise use of land and water resources; the District also sponsors programs to bring problems of conservation to the attention of the public. Soils information, including Soil Potential Index (SPI) ratings and "Minimum Impact Wetlands Permits" process assistance, are also available through the District. USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service provides technical assistance through the conservation districts on erosion control, water quality, streambank protection, wetlands restoration, flood control and soil and resource inventories.
