Mission Statement

To develop and maintain a network of congregations, with trained volunteers, who provide support, assistance, education and referral to the elderly neighbors in Clark County whose circumstances leave them with social, mental and/or physical needs.

Description

Established in 1997, the Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers of Clark County, Inc. is a member of the National Affiliation called "Faith in Action." We strive to provide volunteer assistance to our elderly (age 60 and over) neighbors and help them remain living independently in their own homes as long as possible. These may be the very people that fall through the cracks of existing county government programs or for one reason or another just don't qualify. Trained volunteers provide various services (assistance with shopping, housekeeping, household chores/repairs, limited respite care, transportation to appointments, etc.) including friendly visiting, which is vital to the success of our program, as it helps with loneliness and depressions. It also opens the door for the receiver so that as other needs arise they would feel good about asking their friend for help.
