Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide direct services to Navajo (Diné) veterans and establish a Designated VA Regional Office on Navajo Nation. Advocate for federal Veterans benefits by bringing Direct funding and services to the Navajo Nation.
Description
NAVO submitted three grants and all 3 were denied, hosted 8 Annual National Vietnam Veterans Day in Shiprock, NM (Navajo Reservation). This event brings Veterans, Surviving Spouses, Gold Star Parents, Albuquerque VA Regional Office and Prescott Tribal Governmental Specialist together. 297 veterans and 2 surviving spouses received VA Compensations, one walk-in shower was done, transported veterans to their appointments that's about 200 miles from home, March 21, 2025, we were awarded a Navajo Business Site Lease for a 30,000 sq/ft building to manufacture housing products using closed cell polyurethane foam core building panels with integrated cam-locking mechanisms. Our intent is to help build homes for veterans, surviving spouses and Gold Star Parents using grants, bequest, donations and fund raising. We raised $175,000 for Shiprock Veterans Cemetery upgrade and renovate the ceremonial ground. We support Upper Fruitland Honor Guards with funds, uniforms and travel. During Covid, we set up a help stations for PPE, deliver water tanks for drinking, submit Claims for veterans.
Federal Veterans' benefit on the Navajo Nation is almost none, border town non- Native Americans also use our help.
As you can see in my writing, we need lots of assistance. Our Board members are all Navajo Vietnam Veterans with limit education, but we know what we need and determine to help ourselves. Thank you
