Mission Statement
We provide exceptional care and unparalleled service to patients and families who have placed their trust in us.
Description
Our hospice volunteers find great rewards in spending time with patients who are diagnosed with a terminal illness. There are many ways volunteers can improve the quality of life for this population. Whether the patient lives at home or in a nursing facility, they appreciate knowing their life still has value. A trained volunteer understands the importance of active listening when a patient is processing all the emotions of facing life's end.
Family members are also on this journey with their loved one and need the added support volunteers provide. Caregiver respite is one of the greatest benefits a volunteer can offer. Caregiving is around-the-clock work, so getting a break is vital to their well-being. Having a volunteer come for a couple of hours to stay with the patient is a huge help. We also have music volunteers who play for patients and sometimes help with special events.
Veteran volunteers are another group of men and women who visit with our veteran hospice patients. They often form a special connection because of their shared military history.
Hospice volunteers must be at least 18, have their own transportation, and complete the video training course. We provide everything you will need to feel successful in your volunteer experiences. Becoming a hospice volunteer has been a life-changing role for many of the people who remain with our agency for years.
