Akron Rescue Cats a 501c3 nonprofit exists to transform the lives of stray and abandoned cats Through structured programs and community involvement we strive to reduce the population of homeless cats and ensure each one gets a chance at a loving home.
Description
Akron Rescue Cats was founded in November 2023 after a group of 27 stray cats were discovered living at a campground in Akron, NY. What began as a small group of volunteers trying to help before winter set in quickly turned into a full-scale rescue effort.
Since then, we’ve saved over 378 cats from the streets, with more than 200 adopted into loving homes. Every day, we care for the sick, injured, and abandoned-providing food, shelter, medical care, and a second chance.
Our mission is to end the suffering of stray, feral, and community cats by reducing overpopulation, offering judgment-free support, and ensuring every cat we help gets the care they deserve.
Founded by four women from different walks of life brought together by a shared love for animals, our rescue continues to grow through that same spirit of compassion and community.
Our future goals include opening a permanent adoption center and building a sanctuary for cats who need time, healing, or a forever home with us.
Together, we’re creating a safer, kinder world-one cat at a time.
