About the Role: We are looking for caring, committed, and culturally aware Mentors to join our Early Intervention Mentorship Program. Mentors will be matched with high school juniors and seniors and will play a key role in offering guidance, encouragement, and support through regular check-ins, college/career prep, and personal development. Responsibilities: Meet virtually or in person with your mentee for 1-on-1 check-ins Support students academically, emotionally, and socially as needed Encourage goal setting, self-advocacy, and long-term planning Attend quarterly mentor training or community workshops (remote) Track and report key insights through secure mentor dashboards Communicate any concerns or red flags to Beneath and Beyond’s team for further support Be a consistent, safe, and uplifting presence in your mentee’s life Ideal Candidates: Passionate about youth development, equity, and educational access Strong communication and listening skills Able to commit for at least one academic year (junior-senior cycle) Comfortable navigating discussions around identity, school challenges, and future planning Completed a bachelor’s degree (or currently pursuing one)

About Us: Beneath and Beyond is a nonprofit committed to advancing educational equity for underserved and minority high school students through early intervention, mentorship, advocacy, and support. Our work centers around amplifying student voice and addressing systemic barriers within schools. Position Summary: We are seeking a passionate and strategic Advocacy & Outreach Lead to launch and lead our "Beyond Barriers" Advocacy Initiative. In this role, you will help surface, document, and challenge systemic inequities in education by gathering local stories, identifying recurring issues, and driving collaborative solutions with schools. Key Responsibilities: Lead the "Beyond Barriers" Initiative Develop and implement advocacy campaigns targeting systemic issues such as dual credit access, biased tracking, and discipline disparities. Facilitate issue identification by listening to students, families, and school stakeholders. Data & Story Collection Collect qualitative and quantitative evidence (surveys, interviews, testimonials) to document inequities. Identify patterns and build clear, compelling case studies. Outreach & Relationship Building Engage directly with school officials, counselors, and community members. Present findings and proposed solutions with a constructive, partnership-based approach. Create Replicable Advocacy Models Document successful advocacy outcomes and shareable strategies to expand to other schools and districts. Help position Beneath and Beyond as a go-to partner for student-centered policy change. Support Communications Work with the team to create public-facing reports, advocacy toolkits, and social media content around issues and wins. Ideal Candidate: Passionate about educational equity and systemic change Experience with community outreach, advocacy, organizing, or school policy (a plus, but not required) Strong writing, interpersonal, and storytelling skills Ability to analyze problems and communicate solutions with clarity and empathy Comfortable speaking with students, families, and educators Open to college students, graduates, those in a gap year, or pursuing graduate school. Self-starter with a collaborative mindset and problem-solving approach

This role is ideal for a creative, strategic thinker who is passionate about education equity and wants to use their communication skills to amplify impact. Key Responsibilities: Develop and manage content for social media, newsletters, and the website Craft compelling stories, updates, and campaigns to share program impact Coordinate visual and written communications for events and initiatives Ensure consistent and mission-aligned branding across platforms Collaborate with other leads to highlight advocacy, mentorship, and student stories Ideal Candidate: Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills Experience with social media strategy and/or basic graphic design tools Comfortable using platforms like Canva, Instagram, Mailchimp, or Squarespace Organized, reliable, and responsive Passionate about education access and youth empowerment Open to undergrads, grads, or recent grads (or equivalent experience)
