Our office doesn’t feel like a corporate building. It feels like a living calendar. Whiteboards filled with schedules. Post-it notes that actually matter. A birthday card being passed around. One person’s on the phone with a family, another’s prepping supplies for a home visit. There’s a rhythm to the work-calm, focused, human. And when it’s flowing, you feel it. As an admin volunteer, you’ll be part of that rhythm. You’ll help us stay organized so our nurses, social workers, and aides can give their full focus to the people we serve. You’ll work directly with our Volunteer Coordinator. They’ll loop you in on what’s needed each week-whether it’s assembling binders for new admissions, confirming visit schedules, or checking supply deliveries. You’d be a good fit if you: Are 18+ Can offer 4-6 hours/week (in-office or remote for some tasks) Are organized, consistent, and comfortable taking initiative Like being part of a mission-driven team that supports one another Haven’t experienced a recent personal loss We’ll show you the ropes, and you’ll quickly become the person people are relieved to have around. The first few weeks, you learn how to speak. Then you learn how to listen. Then you learn when not to say anything at all. That’s what hospice teaches. And that’s what you carry forward-no matter where your social work career goes. At Comfort Care Hospice, our MSW internship isn’t about sitting on the sidelines. You’ll be included. Trained. Trusted. You’ll work with our MSW and field preceptor-who brings years of experience in hospice care and mentoring students. She’ll loop you into real work, with real people, dealing with real-life decisions. You’ll visit patients. Sit with families. Observe tough conversations. Help document psychosocial assessments. You won’t be watching from a distance-you’ll be in the work. You’ll gain experience in: Family system dynamics and grief Dementia and end-of-life communication Psychosocial documentation Interdisciplinary care planning Weekly one-on-one supervision with a licensed MSW This internship is for you if you: Are in an MSW program with field placement requirements Are emotionally steady and want mentorship, not just sign-offs Want to do social work that feels personal, not performative Care about showing up fully, not perfectly By the time you finish, you won’t just have hours. At Comfort Care Hospice, we believe presence is medicine. You don’t need to come with answers. As a companion volunteer, you’ll visit patients nearing the end of life-mostly older adults, many with memory loss or dementia. Some might speak in circles. Others may say nothing at all. But every visit is a reminder: even when words fade, connection remains. You might hold a hand while soft music plays. Flip through photo albums. Sit quietly while someone sleeps. The moments are small, but the impact is enormous. You’ll become part of a sacred chapter in someone’s story. We’re not looking for perfect. We’re looking for present. For kind. For compassionate. For someone who shows up-because that, alone, is extraordinary. You should be: 18 or older Emotionally grounded (no recent major personal loss) Available weekly or biweekly Comfortable with stillness, repetition, and the beauty of quiet care We train. We support.
