NHS is a not-for-profit, citywide organization working to increase and protect investment in underserved neighborhoods, to help people help themselves through education, to encourage and support neighborhood self-reliance and to create, preserve and promote affordable housing in NYC neighborhoods. NHS accomplishes its mission through rehabilitation of housing, education that builds the capacity of people to help themselves; development of grass-roots leadership that promotes self-sufficiency of neighborhoods; creation of neighborhood revitalization projects that specifically designed for a community'd needs of low- and moderate-income residents in New York City.
Description
Neighborhood Housing Services of New York City has nine offices in all of the boroughs which provide an array of programs and services. These programs and services include: Lending, home maintenance training, early delinquency/foreclosure prevention, financial life skills, homeownership pre- and post-purchase counseling, landlord education, community impact projects and much more.
