Are you a college student looking for real-world experience that actually makes a difference? Join our youth outreach team and earn internship credit, community service hours, or just build a résumé that stands out in social work, mental health, education, or ministry. You won’t be fetching coffee. You’ll be: Planning and leading real events for youth in the community Helping design and promote support groups, leadership programs, and faith-based discussions Assisting with tutoring, mentoring, and recreational activities Doing valuable admin, planning, and publicity work - some of which can be done virtually And if you complete a hybrid (online + in-person) course, you’ll walk away with a certification in peer counseling We can offer: Community Service Hours Depending on your school's polices internship and externship hours You’ll never be left alone with a minor. We take safety seriously. All volunteers go through a background screening and training before working directly with youth. This is an ongoing commitment of several hours per week, with flexible scheduling. We’ll work with you to build a personalized volunteer plan that fits your goals and your semester. While our organization is guided nationally by a Board of Directors, this advisory board plays a vital role at the community level, helping us build credibility, expand partnerships, and strengthen our impact among local youth and families. This board is made up of respected business leaders, educators, pastors, counselors, parents, legal and financial professionals, and other community members who care deeply about the wellbeing of teens in our region. Purpose & Function: Lend credibility and visibility to Youth Haven Ministries in West Virginia through association and support Advise on local needs, opportunities, and challenges impacting youth and families Assist with fundraising and networking, helping us connect with donors, partners, and volunteers Promote awareness of our mission in schools, churches, businesses, and civic organizations Support events, outreach efforts, and strategic planning as community ambassadors While the advisory board holds no legal or fiduciary responsibility, members play a key role in shaping the future of our work in West Virginia by offering their insights, influence, and encouragement. If you’re a community-minded leader who wants to make a difference in the lives of local teens, we invite you to consider joining this vital circle of support.
