Mission Statement

The Women’s Law Center of Hawaii empowers survivors of domestic violence across all Hawaiian islands by providing trauma-informed, culturally responsive legal representation and integrated advocacy delivered by licensed attorneys, leveraging innovative technology to eliminate geographic barriers and secure safety, justice, and long-term stability for women and their families.

Description

Women’s Law Center of Hawaii (WLCH) was incorporated in early 2024 as the islands’ first nonprofit staffed entirely by Hawaiʻi-licensed attorneys dedicated to civil-legal help for survivors of intimate-partner violence. We combine courtroom representation with holistic advocacy, and we remove geographic barriers through a 24/7 Client Care Portal and helpline that lets survivors on every island connect securely with our team. In our first year we secured a service contract with Catholic Charities Hawaiʻi and are ramping up to handle 80 full-representation cases while reaching 900 protective-order petitioners via court outreach in the next six months. Volunteers-whether legal professionals, tech builders, bilingual liaisons, or community coordinators-multiply that impact and turn legal victories into lasting safety for Hawaiʻi’s families.
