The 5,550-acre Hudson River Special Management Area, also known as the Hudson River Recreation Area, or sometimes simply Buttermilk, is located on the eastern shore of the Hudson River in the Lake George Wild Forest. The unit had hiking trails and hand launches. Volunteers work independently or can choose to meet up with other volunteers to pick up and remove litter along trails, including Darling Ford, Bear Slides, Sandy Beach island, campsites, and parking lots. Volunteering allows for a self-guided and flexible schedule. It is recommended to visit the Hudson River Special Management Area after major holidays such as Memorial Day, the weekend after July 4th, and Labor Day. Volunteers can also help with tasks like painting picnic tables, trail gates, and outhouses, as well as reporting downed trees, major erosion, or other concerns. Volunteers are provided with supplies including orange bags, trash pickers, gloves, and workers' compensation. No skills or experience are required as volunteers are given training and support from the Morgan Duke Conservation Society. Individuals, residents, students, groups, and employers are all welcome to volunteer.

The 75,000-acre Saranac Lakes Wild Forest is part of the Adirondack Forest Preserve. The most prominent features of this unit are the many lakes, ponds, and rivers. These waterways are to this unit what mountains are to the adjacent High Peaks Wilderness. The unit's 144 water bodies range from small ponds entirely owned by the State to large lakes with a mix of State Land and private lands. Location: Towns of Brighton, Franklin, Harrietstown, Santa Clara and Tupper Lake in Franklin County, and Towns of North Elba and St. Armand in Essex County Volunteers can work independently or have the option to meet with other volunteers to pick up and remove litter in the most visited areas, including Lake Clear Beach, Middle Saranac Lake Beach, Hotel Pond, Little Green Pond, Indian Carry, and Floodwood Road. At these locations, volunteers can help with picking up litter, maintaining privies, and maintaining fire rings. Volunteers are provided with supplies including orange trash bags, gloves, trash pickers, volunteer safety vests or shirts, and workers compensation. No skills or experience are required; anyone is welcome to volunteer including individuals, students, residents, groups, and employers. Volunteers enjoy performing volunteer services while exploring trails.

Located in Ulster County, NY Minnewaska State Park Preserve is situated on the dramatic Shawangunk Mountain ridge, which rises more than 2,000 feet above sea level and is surrounded by rugged, rocky terrain. The park features numerous waterfalls, three crystalline sky lakes, dense hardwood forests, incising sheer cliffs and ledges opening to beautiful views, clear streams cut into valleys, Minnewaska State Park Preserve sees between 500,000 and 600,000 visitors annually. At Morgan Duke Conservation Society, our volunteers assist the park staff and rangers in keeping Minnewaska State Park Preserve free from litter. Volunteers work independently to clean up and remove litter from the most popular trails in the Lake Minnewaska Area. Litter Patrol Volunteers may focus on a specific trail section or volunteer while exploring various areas of the park including the visitor center. Volunteers are supplied with Orange Bags, Trash Picker Uppers, and Gloves available at the visitor center. They are also covered under workers' compensation. Volunteers are encouraged to volunteer at their own convenience on a self-guided, flexible schedule. It is recommended to also check on the park after major holidays such as Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day weekends.
