About the Foundation: The Roosevelt and Ruth Marlow Educational and Recreational Foundation has proudly served Brunswick County since 1991. Our mission is to provide educational support, recreational opportunities, and community enrichment programs to empower youth and strengthen families. We are dedicated to preserving the legacy of Roosevelt and Ruth Marlow through service, mentorship, and creating pathways to success for future generations. Position Overview: The Foundation is seeking passionate and committed individuals to join our Board of Directors. As a board member, you will play a vital role in guiding the organization's strategy, strengthening community relationships, and ensuring the fulfillment of our mission. This is a volunteer position. Responsibilities: Mission Support: Uphold and promote the mission, vision, and values of the Foundation. Governance: Participate in the development of policies, strategic plans, and organizational decisions. Fundraising and Advocacy: Assist with fundraising efforts, donor engagement, and promoting the Foundation’s programs and events. Financial Oversight: Review financial statements, budgets, and ensure the Foundation’s fiscal responsibility. Meetings: Attend and actively participate in board meetings (typically held quarterly), and special events. Committee Service: Actively participate on committees or task forces as needed, contributing to the planning, development, and implementation of programs related to health, wellness, education, recreation, and other relevant areas. Community Ambassador: Represent the Foundation in the community and county, helping to build partnerships and promote programs. Qualifications: Passion for the Foundation’s mission and the communities we serve. Willingness to actively engage in fundraising, advocacy, and organizational development. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to contribute expertise in areas such as education, youth development, nonprofit management, finance, fundraising, legal affairs, or community leadership. Previous nonprofit board service is a plus but not required. Time Commitment: Approximately [5-10] hours per month, including meeting attendance, committee work, and event participation.
