Swordfight USA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization devoted to preserving and promoting Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) through education, competition, and cultural enrichment. Founded on the success of SoCal Swordfight, the world’s largest HEMA gathering, we are dedicated to fostering community engagement, historical scholarship, and personal growth by making the rich traditions of medieval and Renaissance martial arts accessible to diverse audiences across the United States. Through immersive events, hands-on classes, exhibitions, and outreach programs, Swordfight USA inspires participants and volunteers to explore history, connect with others, and celebrate the artistry and athleticism of historical fencing. Volunteers play a vital role in advancing our mission, contributing to the success of programs and events that elevate HEMA to its rightful place as a vibrant and engaging cultural experience.

Description

Swordfight USA, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, preserves and promotes Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) through education, competition, and cultural enrichment. Building on the success of SoCal Swordfight-the world’s largest HEMA event-we make medieval and Renaissance martial traditions accessible to diverse audiences nationwide.

Our flagship event gathers over 1,100 participants annually with 130+ hours of instruction, 80 expert instructors, 27 tournaments, and opportunities to explore historical artifacts. Through educational programs, tournaments, and outreach, Swordfight USA fosters historical scholarship, athletic mastery, and community engagement.
