Mission Statement

The mission of the Durango Farmers Market is to support agriculture and the local community of farmers and ranchers by providing a vibrant marketplace. Within this marketplace, we aim to support the growth of sustainable food networks and local small businesses, enhance access to education, and boost the local economy.

Description

The Durango Farmers Market (DFM) is a nonprofit organization that supports regional agriculture, small food businesses, and community health by operating a vibrant weekly market in downtown Durango, Colorado. Our mission is to support local farmers and ranchers through a dynamic marketplace that strengthens sustainable food systems, enhances education, and boosts the local economy.

From May through October, we host over 70 vendors offering fresh, locally produced goods. We are a SNAP-authorized market and proudly participate in Double Up Food Bucks. Through our Farm-To-Neighbor program, we purchase produce from local farmers to distribute to community members in need-reducing waste while improving food access.

DFM also leads community engagement through chef demos, sustainability efforts, and school partnerships. As we transition to 501(c)(3) status, we continue expanding programs and partnerships to build a resilient, inclusive food system in the Four Corners region.
