Mission Statement

At CAE, we use the power of the arts to empower individuals and strengthen communities. Through creative experiences, we improve mental health, support recovery, foster economic growth, and promote social well-being. Our approach inspires creativity, growth, and shared purpose, helping people reach their full potential. At the core of our work is a diverse network of trauma-informed mentors--Team Ambassadors--including artists, educators, entrepreneurs, and behavioral health professionals. They guide participants through personal growth and leadership, fostering resilience and meaningful change. To expand access, we created the CAE Network™--a tech platform that connects underserved communities to essential resources, mental health services, and economic opportunities. It breaks down systemic barriers and promotes equity. Through this platform, case management, and on-site therapy, we provide compassionate, trauma-informed care that supports healing, growth, and lasting impact.

Description

Since 2008, CAE has transformed lives through creativity, mentorship, and access to care. What began as a small, arts-based effort is now a regional hub serving Western Pennsylvania and Northeast Ohio with trauma-informed programs that help individuals heal, grow, and thrive. Volunteers have always been central to this impact.

At CAE, your time creates real outcomes. In the past year, 122 individuals participated in our recovery, arts, and youth development programs. Our monthly Friday Night LIVE Music & Art Exhibition brought together 78 adult community members, with 92% reporting stronger recovery and connection. Our SMART Recovery Teen Support groups equipped youth with tools to manage challenges and stay grounded. Through the CAE Network(tm), participants accessed job assistance, housing, therapy, and mentoring across our partner organizations.

Volunteers support hands-on workshops, community events, and digital engagement. You may help track participant progress using CAE’s innovative platforms, support youth in launching their own businesses, or assist with special projects like our Opioid Docuseries, which reached over 17,000 viewers.

Whether you’re welcoming someone to their first creative space or offering steady support in a moment of need, you’re helping people rediscover their potential. At CAE, volunteers don’t just serve-they change lives.
