Mission Statement

The Brown Memorial Tutoring Program focuses on literacy because of the transformational effect reading has on children’s lives. We believe reading competency provides a child with life skills and opens their world to opportunities. We work in partnership with Baltimore City elementary schools on a shared goal of educational equity for all students.

Description

Become A Volunteer Tutor
Be matched with an elementary school student to tutor once per week throughout the school year at our tutoring center located in Bolton Hill. Tutors are trained (for free) to use the Structured Literacy approach based in the Science of Reading. They have access to 200+ resources and a 3,700-volume library. New Tutor Orientation and Tutor Training occurs prior to the start of tutoring in October.
