Mission Statement

Protecting Soil & Water for Generations; not only today's generation but future generations.

Description

Conservation Districts (CDs) are your local providers of natural resource management services -- much like your local fire, police, health, and school services.

We're also your neighbors, helping fellow Michiganders conserve their lands and waterways so our environment and communities can be a cleaner, healthier, economically stronger place to live, work and grow.

Formed in response to the 1930s Dust Bowl, Conservation Districts are special units of local government that utilize state, federal, and private sector resources to address today's conservation challenges like the climate crisis, forest health, soil erosion, water pollution, and produce safety.

All of our programming is voluntary and non-regulatory. Conservation District staff, technicians, and volunteers work hand-in-hand with local, state and federal organizations to roll out programming that directly assists and improves environmental quality and natural resource management in our communities.

In order to meet our mission, we work closely with the community, identifying resource needs then partnering with others who have similar goals to address those needs.

By implementing technologies and practices that are environmentally friendly we can ensure long term use of our precious natural resources.

By working together we can make a difference in the protection of our natural resources.
