Food Bank Volunteers-Sorting/Shelving Donations

Volunteers are needed to examine, sort and prep food that is donated from local partners as part of a produce rescue. The donated food needs to be checked to make sure it is fresh and able to be distributed to food bank clients. You may be assisting in unloading the food rescue van and receiving donations. This role is indoors, but you may need to go outdoors to assist with unloading. This role requires standing for most of the shift.

Food Bank Volunteers-Client Intake

Project Details Client Intake Specialist is a critical volunteer role. As a volunteer you will work directly with clients to check them in on the Link to Feed system and communicate with other volunteers what food should be provided. Volunteers need to be personable, precise and able to comfortably operate an IPad. It is very helpful to be able speak a second or third language Depending on the weather, intake is performed mostly outside and will require standing for a good portion of the shift. Current open shifts are: Tuesdays 10:45-2:15, Thursdays 11:45-4:15

Food Bank Volunteers Distribution

Volunteers are needed to pack food boxes for clients as they check in at the food bank. Volunteers will have a "station" for the day filling produce bags, bread bags, loading TEFAP boxes or meat boxes. Boxes are filled based on the size of the family and the type of food visit they are reciving that day. Volunteers will need to manage the inventory for their section for the day, ensuring as best as possible an equal distribution. One volunteer will pack the food into the client's trunk. They need to ensure all sections are included and keep the drive through running efficiently. Volunteers need to wear closed toe shoes and may want to bring a snack or water bottle. Volunteers will have a specific shift. Available shifts Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 1045-215, Thursday 1145-415, Tuesday 245-515. Bilingual volunteer are very helpful.

Food Bank-Grocery Rescue Driver

Project Details Volunteers will pick up the van from the ReSources Vail Food Bank and drive to local grocery stores to pickup food to be delivered to the food bank. Volunteers will interact with store staff in a kind and understand way, being appriciative of the store's effort to provide the food. Volunteers will pack the food in the van in a way that will ensure the food will fit and will allow for tracking of what boxes came from what store. This will require heavy lifting. Grocery Rescue drivers pick up the keys as early as 7:30 am and are usually finished by 9:00 am. Drivers will need to provide their drivers license and be added to ReSources Auto Insurance. You must pass a MVD (Dept. of Motor Vehicle) check. You are welcome to volunteer with another person as there are 2 seats in the van. This can be fun for a couple or friends! Grocery Rescue schedule is as follows: Monday through Saturday 7:30 am to 9:30 am 2 Saturdays a month grocery rescue goes in town to Trader Joes, making for a longer serve opportunity. Volunteers can volunteer 1 day a week or be a subsitute driver.

Description

Resources Vail Food Bank provides emergency food to families, meals for the home-bound and supplemental weekend "Meals to Grow" bags for Vail students as well as other short-term service initiatives. Financially, this is made possible through food donations, monetary donations, and proceeds from the Vail Depot Thrift Store. Greater Vail Community Resources has been improving lives in our region since 2016. Your involvement as a donor or volunteer will help ReSources to reduce food insecurity in SE Pima County and continue to make a positive impact for people of all ages.
