Mission Statement
Rows for the Hungry (RFH c/o the EARTH. Center Conservancy) exists to provide effective assistance for the food insecure in Middlesex County, New Jersey. RFH was founded with the primary mission of providing locally grown, fresh and nutritious harvests for hunger relief. It is a donation farm-garden worked by volunteers. Crops are cultivated from seed to harvest. Volunteers include Master Gardeners from the Rutgers Cooperative Extension, corporate volunteer groups, student groups, service groups, and scouting groups. RFH raises vegetables, fruits, and herbs for the local food banks, soup kitchens, and training programs with the primary goal being to reduce food insecurity in neighboring communities. A secondary goal of RFH is education to contribute to building a healthier community through sharing all aspects of growing, caring, harvesting, and donating the first rate local produce to our community member neighbors who are food insecure.
Description
The ongoing objectives for Rows for the Hungry continue to be increasing food production and distribution to the surrounding community. The RFH project goals center around "Sharing the Harvest, Teaching to Empower." RFH focuses on increasing food production each year utilizing sustainable gardening and environmental practices. In 2024, RFH donated 23,233 pounds of fresh produce to the underserved communities of Middlesex County. This year, 2025, is the eighth year of RFH operating as a donation farm-garden. The site of RFH has grown to two-acres and is located at Davidson's Mill Pond Park in South Brunswick, NJ.
