Mission Statement
It is the mission of the Capital City CASA program to advocate for the best interest of abused and neglected children and youth within the 19th Judicial Circuit of Missouri based on the belief that children are entitled to a safe and permanent home. The mission will be accomplished through screened, trained, and qualified community court-appointed volunteers.
Description
OUR HISTORY
In 1977, a Seattle juvenile court judge was concerned about making decisions about children who had been abused or neglected without sufficient information. He conceived of the idea of citizen volunteers speaking up for the best interests of children in the courtroom. From that first program has grown a nationwide network of Court Appointed Special Advocates and Guardian ad Litem programs across the country. Capital City CASA received its tax-exempt and 501 (c) (3) status in 2012 and moved out from under the umbrella of the Kiwanis Club of Jefferson City.
