FAITH IN ACTION OF WESTERN STARK COUNTY INC

Faith in Action (FIA) provides free transportation and other services for the senior residents of the greater Massillon, Ohio area. The goal is to help seniors who can no longer drive to continue to continue to live in their homes in the community as long as possible, FIA currently has 11 volunteers that provide transportation for medical appointments and other errands such as grocery shopping and to the barber/hairdresser. In calendar year 2024, FIA provided 580 rides. Unfortunately, we were not able to accommodate 109 requests for rides in 2024. Four volunteers assist in the office assisting with administrative duties. Volunteers also visit with care receivers who live alone, make welfare calls and send birthday cards. Additional drivers are really needed in order accommodate the increasing requests for services. We have been serving the senior residents of the Massillon community since 1997. Volunteers are also needed to assist with the annual health fair, the Christmas brunch and the Christmas gift deliveries.
We are the only organization that provides free rides for non-medical personal errands. A number of care receivers rely on FIA to assist with grocery shopping. FIA does not reimburse drivers for mileage. However, we provide gas cards throughout the year.
