Location: Lawrence, MA (Costello Urban Farm, Community Gardens, Farmers Markets, and other program sites) Commitment: Flexible; minimum of 2 hours per week preferred About the Opportunity: Join us in supporting urban agriculture and healthy living promotion in Lawrence, MA! We are seeking dedicated volunteers to assist with farming, community engagement, and food education activities at Costello Urban Farm, local community gardens, farmers markets, and cooking programs. These programs emphasize the connection between food and health, promoting a "Food as Medicine" approach to nutrition and wellness. Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities: Assist with planting, weeding, harvesting, and general farm maintenance at Costello Urban Farm and community gardens. Support farmers market operations, including setting up, assisting customers, and promoting fresh, local produce. Help facilitate cooking classes and cooking clubs, introducing community members to nutritious, culturally relevant meals. Engage with the community through educational workshops, outreach events, and hands-on food and farming experiences. Provide logistical and event support for special activities related to urban agriculture, healthy eating, and nutrition education. Assist in distributing produce to community members, ensuring access to fresh and healthy food options. Who Should Apply? We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds who are passionate about urban farming, nutrition, healthy living promotion, and community engagement. Ideal volunteers: Enjoy working outdoors and engaging with diverse communities. Have an interest in sustainable agriculture, nutrition, public health, or food systems. Are reliable, enthusiastic, and willing to learn new skills. Can commit to a regular schedule or assist with special events as needed.
