Mission Statement

Camp Horizon is dedicated to providing a residential summer camp experience for children affected by cancer - helping campers find a supportive community, improving quality of life through intentional outdoor programming, and gaining self confidence and independence by participating in new and exciting activities - at no cost to their families.

Description

Camp Horizon was originally founded in 1983 by the American Cancer Society. While originally designed to serve the special needs of current and former childhood cancer patients, Camp Horizon was expanded in 1997 to offer SIBS Camp for Special and Important Brothers and Sisters. Camp Horizon’s Oncology Camp is open to children ages 6 to 17 who were diagnosed with cancer or received cancer treatment within the last five years. Children do not need to be in active treatment to attend camp. SIBS Camp is open to children ages 6 to 17 whose sibling is a current or former cancer patient. SIBS Camp is designed to meet the special emotional needs of the well child whose family has been touched by cancer. Camp Horizon is held each summer at residential campground right outside of Nashville.
