We empower survivors through access to critical resources and support domestic violence shelters across California. In addition, we advocate for a world free of abuse by raising awareness, engaging communities, and inspiring action. Our Tech Challenge to End Domestic Violence seeks to engage the tech community, particularly computer science students and academics, in building solutions that address the technological needs of domestic violence survivors and support efforts to prevent abuse. Role Description: The Outreach Coordinator will play a pivotal role in building engagement with undergraduate Computer Science students to participate in our Tech Challenge and in recruiting women in CS academia to serve as judges for the competition. This is an exciting opportunity to make a direct impact in the fight against domestic violence while encouraging collaboration between the tech and academic communities. Responsibilities: CS Student Outreach: Develop and implement strategies to connect with undergraduate Computer Science students across universities, particularly in California, to encourage participation in the Tech Challenge to End Domestic Violence. Coordinate with university departments, student clubs, and tech organizations to promote the challenge and encourage student involvement. Act as a liaison between Hilde B Foundation and students, providing information, answering questions, and assisting with the registration process. Women in CS Academia Outreach: Identify and reach out to female CS academics (professors, researchers, and professionals) from universities, research institutions, and online academic communities to invite them to serve as judges for the Tech Challenge. Develop compelling outreach materials (emails, flyers, etc.) highlighting the importance of their participation in the challenge as judges and role models for future women in tech. Build and maintain a database of potential judges, track communication, and confirm their availability and commitment to participate. Engagement and Relationship Building: Foster relationships with key academic contacts to ensure ongoing collaboration with universities and female academics in the CS field. Coordinate with other members of the Hilde B Foundation team to ensure all volunteers, judges, and participants are provided with the resources they need. Event Promotion: Use social media, email campaigns, and university channels to promote the challenge, application deadlines, and other relevant events. Engage students and academics through relevant events (e.g., webinars, workshops, and presentations) to explain the challenge and its impact on addressing domestic violence. Reporting and Tracking: Track outreach efforts, including the number of students and judges contacted, their level of engagement, and their confirmed participation. Provide regular updates to the Hilde B Foundation team on the status of outreach efforts. Qualifications: Experience in Outreach or Community Engagement: Prior experience in outreach, volunteer coordination, or community engagement, especially in academic or tech-focused environments, is a plus. Familiarity with the Tech and Academic Communities: Comfortably navigate and build relationships within university systems, Computer Science departments, and student organizations.
