Transportation Volunteer - Transportation volunteers travel in a Vitalant provided vehicle throughout our service area transporting blood products and supplies for timely distribution to and from mobile blood drives, hospitals, and donation centers. Volunteer Role Description: Deliver products and supplies to and from Vitalant facilities and hospitals within the community it serves. Pick up collected blood products from Vitalant Mobile Blood Drives in a nearby community and deliver to Vitalant facility for processing. Deliver supplies to Vitalant’s satellite centers or blood drives. Provide excellent customer service to our communities’ hospitals and their employees Qualifications: Must be at least 19 years of age Must pass a Criminal Background Check Must have valid Social Security Number Must pass Motor Vehicle Report check Demonstrate professional demeaner at all times Be comfortable working with people from diverse communities and backgrounds Lift at least 40 lbs. (assistive devices are available - e.g. carts, dolly’s, etc.) Must be able to follow directions (familiar with hands free navigation) Required Training: Vitalant Volunteer Orientation Transport Volunteer role-specific Training Onboarding with Volunteer Services Specialist Ride-along with currently trained volunteer, if applicable Facility Tour Vitalant Company Vehicle Training Ongoing training and refresher courses

Blood Drive Volunteer - As a representative of Vitalant at mobile drives and donation centers, Blood Drive Volunteers will ensure that blood donors have an exceptional experience from the moment they arrive until the time they leave. Responsibilities include: Welcome and check-in donors. Explain the donation process as necessary and answer any non-eligibility questions donors may have. Ensure each donor receives pre-donation materials Offer promotional items when available Encourage donors to donate the best product for their blood type for maximum impact Manage donor flow Provide excellent customer service Set up and maintain cleanliness in Reception and Refreshment/Hospitality areas Ensure Refreshment/Hospitality area is clean, restocked, and donors are re-hydrated after donation procedure. Check if donor was provided post-donation information before leaving the drive Report possible adverse post-donation physical reactions to staff. May make reminder/cancellation calls, re-schedule donor appointments, and perform follow up activities as directed. Qualifications/Requirements: Must be 16 years of age or older Must pass Criminal Background Check if 18 or older Must have a valid Social Security Number Ability to communicate effectively and provide excellent customer service Demonstrate professional demeaner at all times Comfortable working with people from diverse communities and backgrounds Ability to understand technology needed for position: Donor Check-in, tablets, smart phones, apps, etc. Ability to regularly commit to a schedule, arrive punctually, and adapt to changes Reliable transportation Commit to 50 hours per calendar year Required Training: Vitalant Volunteer Orientation Blood Drive Volunteer Role-specific Training Onboarding with Volunteer Specialist
