These barriers include: The cycle of poverty Displacement of residents and neighborhood culture Individual prejudice and bigotry Inequitable and predatory policies and systems Institutionalized racism Lack of localized and citizen political power and voice Lack of market control Neighborhood disinvestment Poor design and land use Regular shifts in the demographic makeup of neighborhoods By addressing these challenges, the Proof of Life Community Development Corporation (PLCDC) empowers individuals, community associations, and partners to achieve sustainable development and equitable growth.
Description
Our primary initiative, Keep Lake Como Beautiful (KLCB), is a coalition of residents, community associations, and partners committed to enhancing public safety in Lake Como.
KLCB's inaugural program is On My Block Program (OMB), a neighborhood block steward program that encourages residents to take an active role in maintaining and improving their neighborhood.
The creation of Keep Lake Como Beautiful (KLCB) and the On My Block (OMB) program directly address several barriers outlined in PLCDC's mission by focusing on building community cohesion, enhancing public safety, and empowering residents.
