MIRACLE LEAGUE OF DES MOINES KIWANIS

Description

The Kiwanis Clubs of Greater Des Moines had a vision 20 years ago--to bring baseball to the City of Des Moines--baseball for kids (and adults) with special needs. Our goal? To look just like the Iowa Cubs facility across the street. We were the first Miracle League field in Iowa. Now there are at least 12 in our state, with four in the metro Des Moines area. We are run by Kiwanis volunteers. In fact, we are 100% volunteer. In 2017, we were named the Gold Signature Project recipient by Kiwanis International. In 2008, we helped the City of Des Moines become an All America City. We play two seasons each year--spring and fall. Some 200 players play on 16 different teams. Some 2,000 individuals from the community (young and old) volunteer to be our "angels in the outfield", making the experience truly meaningful for our players. We are a place of smiles.
