As our Media Relations Coordinator, you will be responsible for developing and executing media strategies to increase PPI’s visibility. You will work closely with the leadership team to craft press releases, pitch stories, and engage with media outlets to spread awareness about our initiatives. You will also need to participate in a monthly meeting. We may meet more than once a month in certain circumstances. If you can't join for whatever reason, please email the head, Isaac Tate, about it in advance. You are not expected to do all of these. Different media relations coordinators will do different things, depending on which are already being done. Key Responsibilities: Press & Media Outreach Develop and maintain a media contact list of journalists, bloggers, and news outlets. Proactively pitch stories, press releases, and op-eds to journalists and media platforms. Build relationships with climate-focused media professionals and organizations. Content Development Write press releases, media kits, and briefing materials for PPI’s campaigns and initiatives. Develop compelling story ideas that highlight PPI’s impact and mission. Assist in crafting talking points and messaging for interviews with leadership or spokespeople. Media Strategy & Public Relations Monitor media coverage and identify opportunities for PPI to be featured. Help develop crisis communication strategies when needed. Collaborate with the social media and marketing teams to align messaging across platforms. Event & Campaign Support Secure media coverage for PPI events, initiatives, and advocacy efforts. Organize press conferences, interviews, and public statements when necessary. Assist in coordinating media-related partnerships and collaborations.

Key Responsibilities: Video Editing & Production Edit short-form and long-form video content for social media, YouTube, and campaigns. Cut, splice, and arrange raw footage into compelling stories. Add captions, transitions, animations, and effects to enhance engagement. Content Creation & Storytelling Help develop video concepts, scripts, and storyboards for PPI’s initiatives. Transform complex climate issues into engaging, visually appealing videos. Maintain a consistent brand style, tone, and messaging in all videos. Optimization & Distribution Format videos for various platforms (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Facebook). Ensure videos are optimized for engagement, reach, and accessibility. Collaborate with the marketing and social media teams to align with content strategies. Graphics & Effects Create intro/outro animations, lower-thirds, and visual effects to enhance video quality. Edit interviews, testimonials, and event footage into professional videos. Assist in the creation of motion graphics, infographics, and visual storytelling elements.

Community & Partnerships Identify and collaborate with influencers, organizations, and media outlets to amplify PPI’s work. Develop and maintain relationships with climate activists, eco-friendly businesses, and partners. Assist with fundraising and sponsorship outreach efforts. Content & Digital Marketing Work with the social media team to develop high-impact content strategies. Write engaging blog posts, press releases, and marketing copy to promote our initiatives. Assist in the creation and management of email marketing campaigns and newsletters. Analytics & Performance Tracking Monitor and analyze marketing campaign performance (website traffic, engagement, conversion rates). Use insights to optimize marketing strategies and outreach efforts. Conduct market research to identify trends and opportunities for PPI.
