Mission Statement
SMADIE's priorities are MARCHE: promoting Mentorship, Advocacy, Research, Community, Health Equity, and Education for people with disabilities in medicine.
Description
SMADIE, Stanford Medicine Alliance for Disability Inclusion and Equity started as an Employee Resource Group (ERG) at Stanford Medicine, and its scope and mission now extend globally and well beyond the initial ERG.
SMADIE advocates for resources, education, training, policies, accessibility, and services at Stanford Medicine and beyond, not guided solely by law and an accommodations-based approach, but by dismantling systemic discrimination through universal design. SMADIE encourages synergy and collaboration within and beyond the Stanford community in service of Justice.
