Mission Statement

The Retired and Senior Volunteer program places interested persons aged 55 and better in volunteer service to meet critical community needs; and to provide a high-quality experience that will enrich the lives of volunteers in meaningful volunteer opportunities.

Description

The Sullivan County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is part of AmeriCorps Seniors largest volunteer efforts in the nation for people 55 and over. Sullivan County RSVP has been matching older adults who are willing to help with local organizations on the front lines of meeting community needs since 1973.

You have gained a lifetime of experience. Now is the time to put your skills and talents to good use by helping others in your community. When you join RSVP, you get to choose the amount of time you want to give, and you choose how you want to give back.

In return for your time and energy, as a RSVP volunteer, you will make new friends, learn new skills, remain a vital part of our community and be recognized for your efforts. When you volunteer, you’re not just helping others, you’re helping yourself. Research has found that volunteering provides older adults with improved physical and mental health, and greater life satisfaction. Studies have also shown that volunteering helps you live longer and promotes a more positive outlook on life. You can reach our RSVP Coordinator, Monika Roosa, by calling (845) 807-0255 or emailing Monika.Roosa@sullivanny.gov to explore the many opportunities available throughout our county.
