Mission Statement
"To empower vulnerable children and youth in informal settlements through education, mentorship, and life skills, while advocating for child protection, drug prevention, and gender equality, to break the cycle of poverty and create a brighter future for all."
Description
Slum Child Foundation (SCF) is a grassroots NGO founded in 2006 by George Ochieng Odalo in Korogocho, Nairobi, Kenya, to empower vulnerable children and youth. Growing up in the slums, George saw the challenges of poverty, drug abuse, crime, and lack of education. Determined to break this cycle, he established SCF to provide education, mentorship, child protection, and drug prevention programs. The organization also focuses on life skills development, children's rights advocacy, and girls' empowerment through menstrual hygiene support, ensuring every child has a chance for a better future.
SCF has impacted thousands of children and youth, helping them stay in school, avoid drugs, and develop leadership skills. It leads community awareness campaigns on hygiene, child protection, and gender equality while offering scholarships, mentorship, and entrepreneurship training. Through partnerships with schools, local leaders, and international organizations, SCF creates sustainable change. Volunteers are essential to this mission, contributing through teaching, mentoring, fundraising, and community outreach. Join SCF to be part of a movement transforming lives and empowering the next generation of leaders.
