Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. What is Rise Collective? We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to empowering low-income middle school students with the skills, resources, and networks to create their futures and enact positive change. We are 100% volunteer run, and our team of 12 brings a wealth of experience across education, law, tech, philanthropy, finance, and marketing. We are students and alums of Harvard, Princeton, Carnegie Mellon, NYU, Vanderbilt, Boston College, and Teach for America---many of us are first generation, low income, or children of immigrants. Learn more about us at risecollectively.org. Our Program We are currently recruiting high school Peer Mentors to guide and inspire our middle school Student Fellows. Our program kicks off with a Career Exploration Conference on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Quail Valley Middle School in Phelan, CA. Student Fellows will be matched with a Peer Mentor and a Professional Mentor. Mentors will meet their Fellows every two weeks during the spring and summer to discover and work toward their academic and career goals. Why Become a Peer Mentor? Peer Mentors play a vital role in shaping the future of Student Fellows. Key benefits of becoming a mentor include: Leadership Development: Gain valuable leadership experience by guiding a younger student to achieve their goals. Exceptional mentors will be tapped for key leadership positions that directly contribute to the strategic vision of our organization. Personal Growth: Strengthen your communication, problem-solving, and mentorship skills, which are highly transferable to future academic and professional roles. Networking Opportunities: Join a network of dedicated peers and professionals passionate about education and mentorship. Impactful Service: Make a lasting difference in a middle school student's life, helping them chart their course toward a fulfilling future. Resume Building: Demonstrate a commitment to community engagement and leadership on college applications and job resumes. Eligibility Requirements: Current southern California public high school student Available to attend the March 29, 2025 Career Conference at Quail Valley Middle School in Phelan, CA Available for biweekly structured mentorship meetings (in-person or remote) from April - August Application Process Selected applicants will be invited to a 20-minute Zoom or phone interview with one of our Board members.
