Mission Statement

Rhode Island Pet Network is a 100% volunteer-run organization. All donations, event proceeds, and grant funding directly provide monetary support for pets and rescue and shelter animals with specific medical or behavioral needs requiring extra care, treatment, or specialized resources. As medical and behavioral emergencies arise, individual pet guardians and local animal welfare organizations need immediate assistance. We aim to have funds available to contribute at times of urgent need.

Description

Rhode Island Pet Network began as a social networking group to advertise local adoptable animals, shelters, and rescue organizations. Ten years later, we formed as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

RIPN continues to work with area shelters and rescues. Over the past two years since formation, we have increased our community outreach by helping human guardians who struggle to afford costly and unexpected veterinary expenses, including seniors and those facing financial disadvantages. We have raised over $30,000 in veterinary treatment costs, helped over 50 individual animals, and contributed to over 20 organizations.

In addition to fundraising for specific animals, we hold an annual holiday drive to sponsor pets of senior and low-income owners. We sponsored 40 animals in 2024. We continue to apply for grant funding and hold fundraisers throughout the year. Our largest annual event is in its 8th year: "Woof You Be Mine", a "puppy love" themed night of adoptable dogs, Valentine's Day items for sale from local vendors, dog photos, tarot card readings, live music, drinks, and food. We are always looking for volunteers at this event, as well as at our other pop-up and promoted events, and with annual administrative tasks. Business sponsors, financial professionals, and creative volunteers like graphic designers, photographers, and event planners are always welcome. Even if you're just an animal lover with a few free hours a year, we'd love to meet you and see what we can do to better our community together!
