Description
The National African American Male Wellness Agency
Since 2004, The National African American Male Wellness Agency (AAMWA 501- C3 charity) has taken a stance to reduce disparities in premature death and chronic diseases among African American (AA) males by providing over 4,000 free health screenings yearly and innovative health education programs. Annually, the agency engages AA males in over 16 U.S Cities (Columbus, OH, DC, Atlanta, Charlotte). We have developed a strong presence with AA men through our innovative grassroots strategies, allowing us to connect with men who likely would not participate in health programming.
By engaging the AA community in our prevention programming and health awareness campaigns, the African American Male Wellness Agency (AAWellness) has taken ownership of saving black men's and their families' lives. Our mantra is for men to know their numbers, visit the doctor regularly, and get moving.
Given that wellness is a holistic issue and the nature of our organization's projects, over the past five years, we have catered to the entire lifestyle of the AA male. We have embraced an expanded focus from health and wellness alone to include fatherhood, financial wellness, mental health, mentorship, and research initiatives as our core focus areas.
