Mission Statement
To provide content and programs that will inspire and encourage young people to explore STEAM careers. Create paths and provide guidance towards STEM goals. To showcase diversity so every gender and race will be represented. To include young people and give them a seat at the table. To create a true partnership across all the generations, to create the future Gene Roddenberry envisioned. To ensure DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging) is at the core of STEAM Superheroes.
Description
Inspired by Star Trek, STEAM Superheroes was founded by scientists, engineers, physicians, researchers, and educators to show young people that anyone can pursue their dreams regardless of background. Star Trek has inspired many innovators and thinkers, and we aim to be role models for the next generation. What do young people love? Superheroes!
While our STEAM superheroes can't fly or have X-ray vision, they possess the power to create life-saving vaccines, turn dirty water into drinkable water, fight climate change, and develop technology that enhances humanity. Every day, people benefit from their work-whether it's through technology, medicine, or entertainment. If you enjoy your cell phone, computer, special effects, or survive an illness, you can thank a STEAM superhero!
We need a strong pipeline of young people pursuing STEAM to tackle global challenges like climate change and AI. Unfortunately, many have misconceptions about these fields-thinking they're boring, exclusive, or too difficult. We're here to challenge those stereotypes, showing that scientists, engineers, and researchers are fun, creative, and diverse individuals. Our superheroes include artists, musicians, podcasters, and more.
Join us and become part of the STEAM Superheroes-where innovation meets inspiration. As they say in Star Trek, "Beam me up, Scotty!"
