Mission Statement
Meals On Wheels is a program of UR Medicine Home Care. UR Medicine Home Care created the Meals On Wheels program in 1958 to help meet the nutritional needs of the growing number of homebound residents in Monroe County. This program is the third oldest home-delivered meal program in the United States. Our Mission We will be Monroe County’s premier provider of nutritious, affordable, high-quality meals for the homebound and older adults in our community. Our Vision We will deliver high quality nutritious meals to program participants in a timely, caring and cost-effective manner. We will promote a team-oriented environment for staff and volunteers that provides outstanding customer service for every participant and job satisfaction for every employee and volunteer.
Description
Volunteering:
By volunteering a few hours of your time, you can make a difference in the lives of those who need you in the community. Here’s how:
- Meals on Wheels Delivery - Volunteer to deliver hot, nutritious meals to the homebound, elderly, or ill. Meals are delivered Monday through Friday between the hours of 10:30 am and 1:30 pm, depending on the area you deliver. Volunteers bring the meal to the recipient's door with a friendly hello and a check on the participant's well-being. Volunteers are needed on a regular basis and as substitutes
- Seasonal Substitute - You can volunteer to fill in for regular volunteers who are away during winter, summer, or for an extended period of time.
