The mission of the Volunteer Program is to enhance and extend the County of Sonoma's ability to provide services through training, relationship development, and by connecting people with opportunities to serve the community.
The Volunteer Program, housed in Sonoma County's Human Resources Department, places volunteers throughout 72 different county programs to assist departments in extending and augmenting public services they provide.
I am on SSDI permanently due to a stroke 20 years ago when I was only 34. I walk with a cane most times but not all of the time. I can't use my right arm. When most people meet me they don't know why I have to use a cane.
Since my stroke I've earned two BA degrees, one of which is in education. Since then I have worked as a substitute teacher, developed and taught a math program for advanced 6th grade math students and a math program for remedial students as well. I can easily teach more than math.
I believe that everyone deserves an education because with education comes opportunity. People they need the education and knowledge that can help make things happen for them.
I know I can help them with that.
