Description
The HSPR is one of the oldest animal welfare organizations in Puerto Rico. It has a shelter located in Guaynabo where it host over 100 pets waiting for adoption (cats, dogs and sometimes even farm animals). It offers low cost spay/neuter for cats and dogs to avoid any future unwanted animals, has an adoption program, a foster program and a foster to adopt program.
The HSPR was one of the organizations in the Spayathon events happening after Hurricane Maria struck the Island were tens of thousands of cats and dogs were spayed/neuter by local organizations, at no cost to their guardians. It was also one of the pioneer organization in the drafting of the bill that today is the animal protection law in Puerto Rico which is the strongest and broader in the history of the Island.
