Mission Statement
Our vision is to shine light into a dark season, offering hope to families facing housing instability. We support vulnerable families in NW Suburban Cook County and Lake County, IL by helping to provide access to stable housing, equipping families in crisis to achieve self-sufficiency, and connecting them to a supportive community--all while working to break the cycle of housing instability.
Description
We are a fairly new organization, beginning in October of 2023. We are currently looking for help with Intakes, Special Events Volunteers (a few times a year), Housing Advocates (working with families, helping to create a housing plan, and connecting them to resources), and families who may consider temporarily hosting another local family while they work on their housing plan. We’ve housed 5 families and helped 20 families with housing plans.
Housing Programs We Offer:
1. Temporary Housing Program (Our Current Focus)
- This program provides temporary housing in extended-stay facilities or welcoming homes, lasting from 24 hours to 3 months, based on the family's needs.
- We take time to understand each family's story and guide them toward housing stability.
- We help create a personalized Housing Plan, connect families with community resources and partner organizations, and provide wraparound support.
- Our intake process ensures we empower families without enabling dependency, and we follow a strict vetting process for both hosts and families seeking assistance.
2. One-Year Housing Program (Future Focus)
- We Eventually hope to partner with investors to purchase a home and provide a year long housing program with wrap-around support. More on this in the future
