Description

Since 2004, we have awarded 2-3 college scholarships ranging from $500-$1,500 per student. Our scholarships are open to Chicago Public School seniors, and interviews are conducted in early Spring. We have a ceremony in the Fall where we acknowledge our student graduates and recipients. Since inception, we host an annual free summer youth camp for children aged 3-14. We also conduct bi-monthly one on one tutoring sessions for school age students. We recently partnered with an organization to use their digital library to encourage good reading habits for the child and family. Youth are incentivized (monthly prizes to local attractions) to reach certain reading milestones. We currently have 302 users on the app, our goal was to reach 150 readers. This was achieved from our long-lasting relationship with our community, social media posts and new relationships with elementary schools in our neighborhood. We have monthly life skill meetups for adolescents, offering options and solutions to build their self-confidence to make better decisions. With mentoring and spiritual development, we make sure our students find and stay on the path designed for their lives. We host quarterly workshops that cover topics such as how to stay organized and prepared, create SMART goals, resume writing, and literacy topics. In partnership with local organizations to distribute home goods and personal items (clothes, shoes, and toys) to the community. We deliver a holistic approach; our programs emphasize whole family involvement. Our programs and mentorships benefit the entire community.
