Mission Statement

Doors of Hope is dedicated to empowering young adults aged 18-21 as they transition out of foster care. Founded by someone who has personally experienced the foster care system, our mission is to provide safe, supportive housing and equip residents with the life skills, resources, and guidance they need to build a foundation for independence. Through mentorship, education, and advocacy, we strive to open doors of opportunity, helping every individual realize their full potential and create a future filled with hope and success.

Description

Doors of Hope was founded by someone who experienced the challenges of the foster care system. Inspired by a journey of resilience and determination, our organization was created to address the critical need for housing and support for youth transitioning out of foster care.

Our primary goal is to empower youth aging out of foster care by providing:
- Safe and stable housing in a shared living environment
- Life skills training
- Mentorship and case management to guide residents toward self-sufficiency
- Emotional and educational support to help them build a foundation for a successful future

Programs:
- Supervised Independent Living (SIL): We provide housing for young adults, offering accommodations in a shared housing and a supportive community
- Life Skills Training: Workshops cover essential topics like budgeting, cooking, job readiness, and personal development
- Case Management:Weekly meetings with residents to set goals, address challenges, and track progress
- Transportation Support: Assisting with transportation to school, work, and medical appointments
- Mentorship and Advocacy: Providing ongoing guidance, encouragement, and advocacy for each resident’s individual needs

Achievements:
- Successfully established a SIL program, uniquely tailored to the needs of transitioning to adulthood
- Gained 501(c)(3) nonprofit status to extend our reach and impact
