The Volunteer Project Manager will play a key role in bringing Raw Earth Foundation’s vision for a custom digital platform to life. This leadership role involves managing the app development process from concept to launch-coordinating between developers, designers, and internal teams to ensure timely and mission-aligned delivery. The ideal candidate is an organized, proactive problem-solver with experience in digital product development and a strong commitment to environmental impact. Key Responsibilities: Project Leadership: Oversee the development of our community engagement and impact-tracking app, ensuring it meets project goals and aligns with our mission. Planning & Coordination: Develop project timelines, delegate tasks, and manage deliverables using agile methodologies and collaborative tools. Cross-Functional Team Management: Work closely with developers, designers, and Raw Earth leadership to facilitate communication, provide updates, and resolve roadblocks. Milestone Tracking: Define, monitor, and report on project phases, key benchmarks, and deliverables, ensuring progress remains on schedule. Testing & Feedback: Coordinate user testing, gather feedback, and work with technical teams to iterate and improve the app before launch. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain clear records of workflows, decision-making, and technical needs to ensure transparency and continuity. Strategic Integration: Ensure that application features support broader organizational goals-such as volunteer engagement, ecosystem tracking, and community education. Innovation: Bring fresh ideas to the table for how technology can further empower environmental restoration and outreach efforts. Qualifications & Experience Necessary for the Role: Based in the United States Available to respond to emails/messaging/inquiries within 24 hours Previous experience in project management, app/software development, or a related area (nonprofit experience is a plus but not required) Strong organizational and coordination skills Familiarity with digital product workflows and agile or hybrid methodologies Proficiency in project management tools (ClickUp, Trello, Asana, etc.) or willingness to learn Ability to think critically, work independently, and lead cross-functional teams Excellent written and verbal communication skills Passion for environmental sustainability and Raw Earth Foundation’s mission Commitment to contributing at least 5-10 hours per week on a flexible schedule Strong sense of community and collaboration Takes pride and initiative in their work Ability to embody and uphold our four cornerstone values-compassion, unity, inclusiveness, and accountability Our process/next steps: Once you complete and submit your initial application: Your credentials will be reviewed by our hiring staff. Based on our needs and qualifications, an HR team member will contact you to schedule an interview if you are selected to move forward by Senior Leadership. Within 7 business days of the interview, we will provide you a status on your application or an offer for the position. Upon acceptance of an offer, we require the signing of our Volunteer Agreement/NDA. A formal onboarding session will then be scheduled with Human Resources to walk you through our tools, platforms, standard communication, workflow procedures, and the like. You will then be provided a project and/or task list to get started on within 48 to 72 hours. Volunteer Perks We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with an all-volunteer, unpaid staff. Therefore, this role will offer a variety of non-monetary benefits, such as credit documentation and/or public recognition. These benefits are awarded based on volunteers ability to complete tasks on time and complete the minimum amount of volunteer hours required of their role. In order to receive any non-monetary benefit, volunteers will need to complete a minimum of forty hours within their first year of joining our team. In 2016, while our founder Raven Petca was volunteering on an organic farm in Ecuador, she witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of climate change on the Amazon. What a "day in the life" of a Raw Earth Foundation Front-End Software Developer will look like: The Front-End Developer will be instrumental in building Raw Earth Foundation’s community-focused digital platform-a tool designed to empower environmental action, connect volunteers, and measure ecosystem restoration. In this volunteer role, you’ll collaborate with designers and back-end developers to translate UI/UX wireframes into engaging, responsive user experiences. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to apply their technical skills to a meaningful cause and help shape a product from the ground up. Key Responsibilities: Interface Development: Build responsive, accessible, and user-friendly front-end components using modern frameworks and best practices. Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, designers, and back-end developers to integrate features and ensure a cohesive user experience. Design Implementation: Translate Figma mockups or wireframes into high-quality code while maintaining design integrity and functionality. Feature Deployment: Contribute to the development and rollout of key platform features, including dashboards, mapping tools, and user engagement modules. Code Maintenance: Write clean, maintainable code and assist in troubleshooting and resolving bugs or UI/UX issues. Performance Optimization: Ensure front-end performance, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility. Your work will directly support environmental restoration through technology. Key Responsibilities: System Architecture: Design and implement scalable, secure, and efficient back-end systems to support application features and data needs. API Development: Build and maintain robust APIs that connect the front-end interface to databases and other back-end services.
