Position: Board Member - Attorney Organization: Operation Horses Heal Location: Remote with occasional in-person meetings and events Commitment: Volunteer, estimated 5-10 hours per month About Operation Horses Heal Operation Horses Heal (OHH) brings inclusive support to Veterans, active service members, and their immediate families through equine-related activities. Our mission is to create a space where they can relax, rejuvenate, and be themselves, with the hope of improving and enriching their lives while working to reduce Veteran suicide one person at a time. Role Overview Operation Horses Heal is seeking an experienced attorney to join our Board of Directors. The ideal candidate will provide legal guidance on governance, compliance, risk management, contracts, and other matters to support the growth and sustainability of our organization. This individual will play a key role in ensuring OHH operates within legal and ethical guidelines while continuing to expand our programs and services. Key Responsibilities Provide legal oversight and guidance to ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations, governance policies, and ethical best practices. Review and advise on contracts, agreements, and policies related to program operations, partnerships, sponsorships, and liability. Assist with risk management and mitigation strategies, particularly regarding equine-related activities and Veteran support services. Support the development of organizational policies and bylaws to strengthen OHH’s governance. Advise on matters related to intellectual property, employment law, and nonprofit tax compliance as needed. Participate in quarterly board meetings (virtual or in-person) and actively engage in discussions and decision-making. Assist in fundraising, advocacy, and networking efforts to strengthen OHH’s impact and sustainability. Qualifications Licensed attorney in good standing with a background in nonprofit law, business law, contract law, or a related field. Experience with nonprofit governance, risk management, and compliance is preferred. Must be a Veteran or currently serving in the US Military. Ability to provide sound legal guidance in a volunteer capacity. Strong communication and collaborative skills, with a commitment to OHH’s mission and vision. Location: Remote Time Commitment: February 2025 - May 2025 Overview: Operation Horses Heal is seeking motivated and social media-savvy individuals to join our 2025 Seen Through Horses Campaign. This peer-to-peer fundraising and awareness campaign runs from May 1-31, 2025, with training events and meetings starting in February 2025. Volunteers will play a vital role in helping us spread awareness and raise funds for our mission by leveraging their networks and digital marketing tools. Key Responsibilities: Actively promote the Seen Through Horses Campaign on social media platforms. Attend volunteer training sessions and meetings to prepare for the campaign. Learn and utilize tools such as Canva and Raisely to create engaging content and manage campaign efforts. Engage your personal network to encourage participation, awareness, and donations for the campaign. Share campaign updates, stories, and milestones to keep supporters informed and inspired. Qualifications: Passion for Operation Horses Heal’s mission and the equine-assisted learning community. Active on social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.). Willingness to learn and use tools like Canva and Raisely (training provided). Strong communication and networking skills. Ability to commit to the campaign timeline, including training sessions starting in February 2025.
