Mission Statement

We connect unhoused people with the neighborhood by offering dignified, no-barrier-to-entry opportunities for positive social connection and support while beautifying public spaces.

Description

Our mission: We connect unhoused people with the neighborhood through dignified, no-barrier-to-entry opportunities for positive social connection and support while beautifying public spaces.

How we do this: Through a community-based "party-in-the-park" homeless work and outreach program every other Saturday with 250+ unhoused and housed volunteers at Guadalupe Gardens and River Park in San Jose.

Who’s involved : A wide range of community partners across the public, private, and nonprofit sector, and hundreds of unhoused and housed volunteers.

How we started and where we are today: Since launching our pilot program in March 2020, we’ve grown from ~60 unhoused / housed volunteers per program in our first year to 250+ unhoused / housed volunteers per program today (October 2024). How have we grown so much in such a short time? There's a contagious energy to our "party-in-the-park" program that you must experience for yourself to fully understand.

If you’re inspired to work with a nonprofit startup addressing the homeless crisis via a creative, outside-the-box model with proven community buy-in, we'd love to have you!
