SOMERSET ISD EDUCATION FOUNDATION

Description

We are a very small 501c3 (one 0.5 time employee) working to raise funds for a small, rural school district where nearly 90% of students live in poverty. All funds we raise go back to the students and staff of the school district. We have a very large population of immigrant families, and a very large population of first year high school (and college) graduates. Most funds go directly to students for postsecondary scholarships and the bulk of the rest go to district staff for innovative projects and grants. We also hold celebrations, such as Top 10% Senior Student Academic Recognition Banquet, all at no cost to the students, families, or district. This requires a great deal of fundraising and volunteer assistance.
