The Local Advisory Board (LAB) plays a vital role in guiding Birdhouse Fly Away's mission and vision, providing invaluable insights, support, and connections within the Greater Sacramento community and corporate organizations. As stewards of our organization's growth and impact, LAB members commit to championing our cause and advancing our goals. While there is no term limit associated with this role, LAB members are asked to renew their annual board participation commitment at the beginning of each new fiscal year. In 2024, Birdhouse Fly Away LAB member responsibilities will include: Strategic Guidance and Support: Provide knowledge and active support task on all relevant organizational matters, opportunities, and activities to help the Birdhouse leadership team navigate the public and private landscape effectively. Networking and Fundraising Support: Utilize personal and professional networks to generate funding, strategic support, and expand Birdhouse's supporter base. LAB members are encouraged to secure opportunities, financial contributions, cultivate programmatic partnerships, actively support Birdhouse's fundraising initiatives by leveraging grantee and donor connections, and or making personal contributions. Brand Ambassadorship: Serve as a Birdhouse ambassador, actively supporting branding and public relations, initiatives to raise awareness and foster positive relationships within the community. Board Engagement: Participate in Birdhouse Advisory Board meetings, site visits, volunteer events, and actively contribute to discussions, task, projects and decision-making processes. Recruitment Efforts: Assist in identifying potential new advisory board members who align with Birdhouse's values and candidates for hire.

The REPEAT portion of our program invites entrepreneurs, volunteers and companies to join us in teaching and guiding our participants in various skill sets and career fields. Our partners have the opportunity to provide real time hands-on guidance and instruction in a wide range of fields including culinary, carpentry, electrical, automotive, care providing, and more! Through this initiative, we strive to ensure our participants are able to listen, learn, and then repeat what they have been taught - thereby fulfilling the program's namesake. Key Responsibilities: Mentorship and Training: - Provide on-site training and supervision during specific job assignments. - Instruct staff/participants in safe and effective techniques. - Demonstrate best practices in field of choice. Skill Development: - Assist participants in developing proficiency in field of choice skills. - Guide participants in understanding the entry level basics - Support participants in troubleshooting and problem-solving on job sites. Job Preparation: - Prepare staff/participants for job assignments, ensuring they have necessary tools and equipment. - Teach workplace etiquette and professionalism in any work environment. - Facilitate discussions on career paths and opportunities within the choosen industry. Program Collaboration: - Coordinate with program coordinators to align job assignments with participant learning goals. - Collaborate with other mentors and program staff to ensure cohesive program delivery. - Provide feedback on participant progress and contribute to program evaluations. Safety and Compliance: - Uphold safety standards and regulations on job sites. - Ensure participants adhere to safety protocols and use protective equipment if necessary. - Address any safety concerns promptly and effectively.
