Mission Statement
The mission of Adult Basic Education in Minnesota is to provide adults with the basic literacy and academic skills needed to advance their lives, become self-sufficient, and participate fully in their community.
Description
Farmington Adult Basic Education provides free English Language classes for adults 17 and older in a safe and welcoming environment. Our students have various English proficiency levels, first languages, and cultural backgrounds, and are eager to learn. Volunteers work under the guidance of a supervising teacher to provide lessons working one-on-one or in small groups. We currently have a need for volunteers on Tuesday evenings in Farmington from 5:30-8:00. Volunteers are asked to complete 4 hours of training virtually. Training is free and provided by Literacy Minnesota. No prior teaching or classroom experience is required, just a love for people and an openness to learn about different cultures in your community! Training is offered at different times throughout the year. Contact us for more information at abe@farmington.k12.mn.us!
