Mission Statement
The mission of Adult Basic Education in Minnesota is to provide adults with the basic literacy and academic skills needed to advance their lives, become self-sufficient, and participate fully in their community.
Description
Adult Basic Education (ABE) is looking for caring, dedicated volunteer tutors to support adult English language learners.
We offer free English classes for adults age 17 and older in a safe and welcoming environment. Our students come from a wide range of backgrounds and skill levels, and they bring with them a strong desire to learn and grow.
Volunteers work alongside experienced teachers-either one-on-one or in small groups-to help students build their English skills. No teaching experience is required-just genuine openness, care for others, and an appreciation for diverse cultures.
We currently have openings in Farmington and in Northfield, on Tuesday or Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. All ABE volunteers are required by the Minnesota Department of Education to complete a free, virtual 3-hour training provided by Literacy Minnesota.
Come make a difference-one conversation at a time!
