Mission Statement
The mission at Above All Greater Leaning is to build educational support and to empower early childhood educators to grow in their capacities to care for children with special needs. We do this through professional development training, mentoring and coaching and through consulting services.
Description
The founder of Above All Greater Learning, Inc. saw that there is a need to support children with disabilities and their families. National survey results indicated that 5.4% of young children with disabilities had been either suspended or expelled from preschool, compared to 1.2% of children without disabilities. 50,000 preschool children are suspended from childcare and 17,000 are expelled. This is 250 preschoolers are asked to leave temporarily or permanently from their childcare or preschool daily. We help by educating preschool teachers to care for children with special needs. Our coaching and training offer classroom support, recommended accommodations, and foundational practices that we feel will help to relieve educators from apprehensions or lack of skill competency to care for exceptional learners.
Our board members combined have worked in early childhood education for more than 20 years. This includes providing coaching and mentoring for teachers in disability services. Within the past few months, we have been awarded three small grants which we will use to build our organization and to offer professional development for those preschools with limited budgets.
