As a volunteer, you will play a vital role in providing loving care and support to patients and their families during their end-of-life journey. Responsibilities: Patient Care (Non-Medical): Offer companionship and emotional support to patients facing terminal illness. Engage in meaningful conversations, read to patients, or simply listen to their stories. Accompany patients on short walks or outings as appropriate and desired. Provide respite care to family caregivers, allowing them time to rest and recharge. Allelon Hospice is seeking veteran volunteers to honor and support our veteran hospice patients. As a veteran volunteer, you can provide the practical and emotional support to our patients and their families when they need it the most. Our patients reside in Pueblo, CO and surrounding communities. Visits can take place in their homes, as well as, nursing homes, assisted living, memory care units, group homes and hospitals. Volunteers will be provided with ongoing one-to-one staff support throughout their service with us, and will be invited to receive educational opportunities, and appreciation events. Our volunteers must complete an application, interview, background checks, hospice orientation, drug and TB test.
