Modern Military Association of America is looking for someone with grant writing experience. Our organization is a united voice for LGBTQ+ military and veteran communities. Modern Military works to uphold and expand the civil rights progress made on behalf of LGBTQ+ service members, veterans, and their families through education, advocacy, support, networks, and discrimination tracking. The Perks of Volunteering for Modern Military: All volunteer work is fully remote, and you work the hours you want. All our volunteers need is an internet connection and some idea of how many hours per week they can dedicate to helping us. Additionally, all volunteers who are dependable and complete work as assigned will receive: Glowing recommendations from Modern Military senior management upon request. These recommendations can be via the volunteer's prefrred method, e.g., on LinkedIn, as a letter, as an official reference on job applications, etc. 1:1 Professional Development This will be based on the volunteer's stated interst and could take the form of: resume review, interview coaching, cover letter editing, or skills training. What We're Looking For: Grant Writing Knowledge: Experience with writing sucessful grant proposals Communication Skills: A knack for writing and showcasing an organization in the best way possible Cultural Competency: An openness to learning about LGBTQ+ issues and their intersection with military service, with guidance from our Commitment: Ability to dedicate sufficient time to see the project through (on a flexible schedule, of course) What We Need Help With: Currently, we are seeking volunteers to help us write at least two grants a month to increase our advocacy efforts. Your expertise will directly contribute to increasing visibility for this important cause. Our ideal candidates will, with guidance and training from staff: Demonstrate or acquire under guidance from Modern Military staff basic cultural competency in LGBTQ+ issues and how they intersect with military service Write at least two grant submissions a month Use RFP and other grant materials provided to submit the best grant packets possible Have a keen eye for detail, strong narrative writing style, and passion for making an impact

Our ideal candidates will, with guidance and training from staff: Demonstrate or acquire under guidance from Modern Military staff basic cultural competency in LGBTQ+ issues and how they intersect with military service Ensure adherence to organizational guidelines and messaging Collaborate with staff to improve our website's search engine optimization (SEO) and drive traffic Research and implement effective keywords aligned with our advocacy goals Analyze website performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
